Breaking News, R.I.P., Training Tips

  • Two shot in downtown, Atlanta at the CNN Center. Video and details at CNN.com.
  • Friend and war Vet., Ron Leroux, lost his fight with cancer over the weekend, leaving this world in a cloud of cigarette smoke. (He smoked incessantly till the end; God love him.) Peace the F out, Ron; you will be missed.

A few notes from Daniel Hutchinson’s article “A Training Parable” published in Hardgainer 63, Nov/Dec ’99:

  1. No direct work for individual body parts is necessary until you’re able move weights near the 300 lb mark.
  2. Sizable gains in abbreviated training, one set to failure and infrequent workouts.
  3. The big movements include the squat, deadlift, bench, press, row, chin and close-grip bench.
  4. Notable reads include Super Squats by Randall Strossen and The Anabolic Diet by Mauro Di Pasquale.
