I'm trying not to be an old man; I've just started running again after breaking up with it years ago. It was a hard split but I was getting over some back issue and hitting the pavement on a regular just wasn't helping the situation.
I started maybe three weeks ago... walking mostly to start and then working up to a mile. I'm now at two miles three times a week with a 12 minute pace. It's leisurely, but that's okay. I have to remind myself that my body just isn't used to it and that it's going to take a while to get back into the swing of things.
Interestingly, I crack a lot more... my knees and toes mainly. I think this could be a number of things including improper footware, my stance/stride, my age and my fitness level. It's humbling.
